Kentucky park restaurants will offer bison and wild game nights (Video)

Restaurants at many of Kentucky’s resort parks will offer visitors a chance to feast on either bison (buffalo) or wild game during January, February, and March.

Jenny Wiley State Resort Park, in Prestonsburg, will hold a Buffalo Night on Saturday, January 26 in the Music Highway Grill at the lodge. The cost for the buffet meal will be $17.95 for adults and $8.95 for children ages 6 to 12.

In addition to the special meal, visitors will get a chance to learn of the Cherokee Indians’ ways and culture as Jeff Hatmaker, in full attire, will demonstrate and lecture beginning at 6:00 p.m. At 7:00 p.m., cowboy singer Rob McNurlin will entertain with songs of the Old West.

Jenny Wiley will host an Appalachian Wild Game Dinner on Saturday, March 2 featuring quail, catfish, frog legs, country-style ribs, and chili. The cost of this buffet will be $15.95 for adults and $8.95 for children ages 6 to 12.

Lake Cumberland State Resort Park, near Jamestown, will host a Pioneer Prairie Bison Feast on Saturday, January 26 in the Rowena Landing Restaurant at the lodge. The buffet will be priced at $19.95 for adults and $9.95 for children.

Menu items planned for the buffet included carved “Kentucky Proud” round of bison, Southwest-style buffalo chili, smoky barbequed buffalo, chuck wagon buffalo stew, and other bison entrees.

Barren River Lake State Resort Park, near Lucas, will hold a Buffalo Night on Saturday, February 2 in the Driftwood Restaurant at the lodge. Prices for the buffet will be $18.95 for adults and $8.95 for children 6 to 12.

Menu items will include carved steamship round of buffalo, buffalo sirloin tips, buffalo wings, spicy buffalo chili, catfish, and an assortment of vegetables, fruits, and desserts.

Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park, in Gilbertsville, will host an Elk and Bison Buffet on Saturday, February 23 in the Harbor Lights Restaurant at the lodge.

Priced at $19.95 for adults and $9.95 for children 12 and under, the buffet will feature carved steamship round of buffalo, wild boar, catfish, elk meatloaf, duck stir-fry, frog legs, bison taco pie, and bison chili. There will also be plenty of vegetables and desserts!

Pine Mountain State Resort Park, in Pineville, will host a Frontier Night Buffet on Friday, March 8 in the Mountain View Restaurant at the lodge. The buffet is priced at $19.95 for adults and $10.95 for children 12 and under.

The buffet will include elk, venison, bison, rabbit, frog legs, and catfish along with an assortment of side dishes including soup, salad, and dessert bars.

Featured items on the buffet will include carved buffalo, buffalo chili, stews, duck, frog legs, catfish, and other wild game dishes. In addition, there will be soup, salad, and desserts bars.
