Kentucky Opera will tell stories of Benjamin Franklin and riots during two one-acts in the opera's contemporary series this weekend.
Contemporary Opera performances will be Oct. 11 at 8 p.m. and Oct. 13 at 2 p.m. Both performances are to happen at Comstock Hall, located in the School of Music on the U of L campus.
Tickets for both shows are $30 per person. All tickets can be purchased by going to the Kentucky Opera website.
The Contemporary Opera series will feature two one-acts: The King's Man and Danse Russe. The King's Man focuses on the Revolutionary War, Benjamin Franklin and his son William. Their good relationship faces a test when the two take different views on the war.
Danse Russe, meanwhile, focuses on the fallout after the opening of an influential work, The Rite of Spring, and how the creators of that show handled the opening night's riots.
Composer Paul Moravec and librettist Terry Teachout created the productions.
Following the Contemporary Opera series, Kentucky Opera will present Simon Boccanegra. That production will take place in November.
