Kentucky Derby gone NYC at six stylish venues

Wouldn't it be awesome to be a part of the Derby revelry in Kentucky? Hours in the warm sun and ladies donning hats while sipping on juleps... well, instead, you'll be here in the rain and 50 degree "spring." But don't miss out on the Derby celebrations just because you're in New York - visit one of this spots this Saturday, May 3rd for some high quality cocktails, televised Derby-dom and a socially acceptable reason to day drink at any age.

  • The Royalton will host its annual Kentucky Derby party from 3:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Here, guests will have good old fashioned fun with Derby-inspired games as well as compete for a prize by wearing their best hats (or buying the best one from The Hat Shop onsite). There will even be music by DJ Lily Vanili and group VIP table options that include snacks and cocktails.   • At Marcus Samuelsson's Red Rooster Harlem, a Kentucky Derby viewing party will take place on Saturday, May 3rd at 2:00 PM, featuring $8 Bulleit Bourbon cocktails, including the classic Mint Julep. During the festivities, guests can purchase hats from Goorin Brothers, who will open a pop-up shop at the restaurant's takeout counter, "The Nook," for the day.   • Center Bar will be serving a classic Mint Julep designed by Executive Chef and Restaurateur Michael Lomonaco. The libation, made from Makers Mark and muddled mint, is perfect for spring and will taste even better while staring out the window towards Central Park from its fourth floor Time Warner Center location.   • Renowned party spot LAVO will have a special "Southern-style flaky biscuit" on the menu for their Derby Day brunch. Designed by Chef and Partner Ralph Scamardella, these yummy treats will be served warm with country gravy, poached eggs, and collard green salad, and will be accompanied by crispy bacon hash browns on the side.   • Bobby Flay's Bar Americain is celebrating the Derby with a classic (and mouthwatering) menu item. The Kentucky Hot Brown, the featured dish of the day this Saturday, is an egg-battered slice of Texas toast served with Mornay sauce, roasted turkey, bacon, cheddar cheese, parsley and a grilled tomato.   • Harding's, the Flatiron hotspot that is quickly becoming a neighborhood favorite, has a vintage-looking American Flag hung on the wall - so of course, it must celebrate the Derby.
