Did you know that a famous Kentuckian is giving a live performance at Churchill Downs on Oaks Day? After the Fillies run for the Lilies on Oaks Day on May 2 in Louisville, Kentucky, there will be a new, exciting event at Churchill Downs. While working with the official Kentucky Derby tickets partner, Derby Experiences, I learned that this after-Oaks party was the first of its kind. In years past, Churchill Downs did not have a top-tiered celebrity entertainment event, but this year will set a new precedent for tourists unable to afford the high-priced tickets and exclusive invite-only celebrity-related galas.

New renovations bring party deck venue above grandstand

Over the past years, Churchill Downs has been under construction. The renovations have included behind the scenes improvements to stables, but a club-style entertainment area was developed to appeal to the younger demographic. Sunny’s Halo Lounge certainly complements the vibe instigated by the Downs after Dark events held during the summer at Churchill Downs after the Kentucky Derby. Sunny’s Halo Lounge is making its debut as a top-tier race-viewing venue, a rooftop party deck located atop the grandstand across from the gigantic, new video board.

Kentucky celebrity offers headline entertainment

When America thinks about famous people from Kentucky, names like Johnny Depp, Hunter S. Thompson, George Clooney and Jennifer Lawrence come to mind. However, one of the most famous talent families in the Bluegrass State will be showing their “Unbridled Spirit” on Oaks Day. Unlike other events held on Derby weekend, this occasion will have reasonably priced tickets that are exclusively available through the Churchill Downs’ Official travel/experience partner, QuintEvents’ Derby Experiences.

Gracing horse racing fans with her presence, the ever-popular Wynonna Judd will take the stage at the Kentucky Derby Museum on Friday night following the running of the Kentucky Oaks. This means that, for the first time, fans will not need to leave Churchill Downs after the Oaks race in order to attend a social affair. If you like to party with celebrities, insiders at Derby Experiences have noted that the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and Nichole Galicia from Django Unchained are already on the celeb list.

Although tickets to the Kentucky Derby are available through Churchill Downs or Derby Experiences, it is Derby Experiences that will be selling the Fillies and Lilies Party tickets.
