(WHAS11) - The Leitchfield Animal Shelter says they've received an outpouring of support since a break in.

Last week police say someone broke into the shelter and pitted a pit bull against two cats.

The two cats died and the suspect got away with cash.

The shelter tells WHAS11 News that they've had hundreds in donations coming in from as far as Canada and several different states.

The animal shelter is planning on purchasing a new security system with the money.

The U.S. Humane Society is offering a $2,500 reward leading to an arrest.
