Kenosha hosts Equine Nutrition Workshop February 11th

If someone ate like a horse, what would he eat? What’s the proper nutritional program for a horse? The Illinois and Wisconsin Cooperative Extension is offering a one-day equine educational program to answer that question and other horse feeding concerns.

“Digesting It All,” an equine nutrition workshop will take place on Saturday, February 11th, at the Kenosha County Center in Bristol. The program is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. CST to 3 p.m., including lunch.

The morning agenda for the February 11th horse feeding workshop includes:

  • “Equine Nutrition,” with Kevin Kline, University of Illinois Extension
  • “Manure Happens … What You Need to Know,” with Ellen Phillips, University or Illinois Extension, and Peg Reedy, University of Wisconsin Extension
  • “Feeding Vitamins and Minerals to Your Horse,” with Kevin Kline and Craig Sandmeir, Equine Nutrition Specialist

Afternoon breakout sessions will cover such topics as:

  • Body condition of horses

  • Feeding working & performance horses
  • Buying horse hay

The Kenosha County Center is located at 19600 75th Street (Highway 50), in Bristol, approximately 95 miles southeast of Madison.

On-site registration costs $40 per person for adults (or $70 for two adults). Young participants (ages 18 and under) pay just $20 for the equine nutrition workshop.
