There must be something about Saint Louis that makes big name stars not want to stick around for their shows. Just recently, pop star Miley Cyrus backed out of her STL performance due to a bad reaction to a medical treatment. Now we can add another name to this growing list of no-shows in the Midwest.
Rapper Kendrick Lamar has announced he will not be performing at an upcoming concert event. According to the Riverfront Times, he was set to be the headliner at radio station Hot 104.1's Summer Jam 2014 concert. The Jam will take place on June 21 at the Scottrade Center.
This is not a first for him. Last year, Lamar was traveling with Kanye West for West's “Yeezus” tour, which was scheduled to hit Scottrade Center on December 2. The stop ended up being canceled due to tour equipment being damaged, according to the concert runners. Ticketmaster ended up refunding all tickets for the event.
Kendrick Lamar's Twitter account has no word on the cancellation. In fact, it has not been updated since last month. According to Hot 104.1's own Twitter account, tickets for the Super Jam are currently on sale. They have not yet announced the fact that Lamar will not be performing.
Even with the absence of Lamar, the Super Jam will not be lacking in star power. The remaining line-up for “St. Louis' biggest hip-hop and R&B experience” includes such talents as Juicy J, YG, TY Dolla Sign and Yo Gotti.
One can only imagine what kind of show Kendrick Lamar would have put on in Saint Louis if he had followed through on being the headliner for the Super Jam. He would probably be performing tracks from his latest album, “Good Kid, M.A.A.D. City”. So go ahead and watch Lamar's Grammy performance with Imagine Dragons for the thousandth time. We won't be seeing him around town any time soon.
