Kendall's shot lifts Ponies to victory over Dexter

DEXTER---- Kolby Kendall made a layup with eight seconds left to give the Foxcroft Ponies a 49-48 victory over the Dexter Tigers at Ed Guiski gymnasium on Wednesday evening.

The Ponies took their biggest lead of the game when Sam Keane gave them a 16-9 advantage with 7:08 left in the second quarter.

Dexter went on an 18-2 run that gave them a 27-18 lead early in the third quarter.

The Tigers took their biggest lead when Matt Bartlett converted a 3 point play to give Dexter a 35-25 advantage with 4:14 remaining in the third quarter.

The Ponies overcame a seven point fourth quarter deficit, when they went on a 7-0 run to even the score at 45.

Bailey Spack made two free throws to give the Tigers a 47-45 lead with 3:03 remaining.

Kendall made a running shot to even the score at 47 with 1:25 remaining.

Trevor Fogarty made one of two free throws to give the Tigers a 48-47 lead with 21 seconds remaining.

Kendall gave the Ponies their only lead of the second half with eight seconds remaining.

The Tigers had a chance with two seconds remaining, but they missed two free throws.

Dexter shot 5-18 from the free throw line, including 1-6 in the final three minutes of the game.

Hunter Smith led the Ponies with 18 points, even rebounds, five steals, and four assists.

Kendall recorded 17 points, five rebounds, four steals, and four blocks.

Dylan Harmon-Weeks added seven points and six rebounds. Sean Cody chipped in with three points.

Hunter Law recorded two points, four assists, two rebounds, and two steals. Keane added two points, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

With the win, the Ponies put themselves in great position to grab a tourney spot. The top 13 make the tourney in class B.

Foxcroft (5-10) currently sit in 13th place in the MPA class B heal point standings. The Ponies will travel to Old Town on Friday evening.

Spack led the Tigers with 18 points, two rebounds, and two steals.

Ethyn Gould chipped in with nine points, nine rebounds, and two assists. Bartlett added eight points.

Fogarty recorded seven points, five rebounds, and four assists.

Dustin Sirabella chipped in with four points.

Freshman Zach White had a solid game off the bench for the Tigers. White recorded two points, seven assists, and three rebounds.

The Tigers are currently seventh in the MPA class C heal point standings.

Dexter (8-7) will travel to Millinocket on Friday evening for a contest with Stearns.
