For a while here in Houston, I thought that good R&B was just nonexistent. But thanks to Tay Mitch and Debonair Lounge I've been introduced to the most amazing music coming out of Houston. One of the artists that I had the opportunity of seeing perform live was Ken Randle. We’ve all heard Ken Randle sing but maybe you didn’t know. He is the dope voice singing on ‘Rain Down’ off of Kirko Bangz latest mixtape Progresssion III. I asked Ken a few questions just so we could get to know him a little better. Mark my words he’s going to be the greatest next thing out of Houston…just watch.
When did you start singing?
I started singing when I was about 11 yrs old. One Sunday after church I started singing a church song I heard one of my older cousins sing all the time, and I remember my older sister looking at me in shock and immediately taking me around the church to sing for our cousins. From that day forward I knew I had something.
Where are you originally from?
I was born in Houston, Texas but raised in Missouri City.
Which artists inspired you to start doing music?
The Greats, such as: Michael Jackson and Prince. But I was brought up during the 90’s so I have to mention Keith Sweat, Baby Face and R.Kelly.
Many people think Hip-Hop and R&B are all about collaborations. What artist would you love to collaborate with?
I would have to say Kanye West, Jay Z, T.I. and Drake.
What makes your music stand out from other artists?
It’s timeless. I aim to bring that good feeling back, like the old days. Music you can listen to years from now and it still gives you that feeling you had when you heard it for the first time.
When you’re not making music, what do you like to do in your free time?
I’m a loner. I like to be by myself, with the fam or with my closest homies.
What is your favorite album of all time?
Definitely Z-Ro “Let The Truth Be Told” I make sure it follows me to every laptop, desktop, phone, car etc. lol
What do you want people to take from your music after they listen?
That you can do anything you put your mind to. “Here’s a guy who's had struggle but put it in his music to make a way.”
Is there any advice you'd like to give to young aspiring singers?
You have to get up and do it yourself, NO ONE will do it for you. Also, NEVER STOP DREAMING!
Where do you see yourself 5 years from now?
As a Billboard, American Music and Grammy Award winner.
