Kemp teen receives J.R. 'Sonny' Sessions Memorial Scholarship

Kaufman County Sheriff Byrnes had the pleasure of assisting in presenting a deserving young man with the J.R. “Sonny” Sessions Memorial Scholarship. It is a scholarship offered by the Sheriff’s Association of Texas to “eligible students pursuing an academic degree at a college or university.”

This year’s recipient is  Brandon Crow of Kemp, Texas. Brandon’s dad is Scott Crow, who works for the U.S. Department of Federal Bureau of Prisons, RN Infection Control, and his mom is Felicia Crow of Kemp.

Peggy Sessions also helped present the scholarship funds award at the ceremony held at the Kaufman County Law Enforcement Center. Sheriff Byrnes “praised  Brandon for his excellent academic accomplishments, and encouraged him to continue forward in his pursuit of a degree. Brandon Crow attends East Texas Baptist University.

The Sheriff’s Association is not the only scholarship that is offered each year. Many others are made available thanks to the generous  donations of organizations and individuals. The Sheriff’s Association manages those funds to be awarded each year and the scholarships are presented each spring and fall.
