The Bakersfield Jazz Workshop will be presenting two featured artists this Wednesday night at Le Corusse Rouge.

Appearing first at 7:30 PM will be The Jay Smith Trio, featuring Jay Smith (piano), Shawn Patrick Smith (drums), and Jay Jay Hicks (electric bass). Jay Smith and Shawn Smith are both instructors for the BJW's Beginning Jazz Improv class. Their students and local jazz fans now have a chance to see them in action together, along with bassist Hicks, whose rare appearances at the BJW are always welcomed with great enthusiasm.

Next at 8 PM will be a new band making its first ever appearance at the BJW, Kelulu, consisting of Jorge Urbina (guitar/latin percussion), Noel Hernandez (Guitar/vocals/auxiliary), Armando Arambula (bass/keyboards), Alex Lopez (latin percussion/turntables), and Jay Smith (piano/keys/synth).

Named after a legendary and mysterious figure from Latin American and Spanish folklore, their sound is a blend of Latin Jazz, Flamenco, Bembe, Afro-Cuban and Puerto Rican Son, Huapango, and eclectic genres of modern Rock.
