It has indeed been a good time for the X-men in the world of movies. The latest entry in the franchise, X-Men: Days of Future Past, has been a massive success; both financially and critically. So news on what is in store for the Marvel franchise's future can only be met with excitement. While details are unclear for the next film, X-Men: Apocalypse, several familiar faces will be returning; both from past timeline and the future timeline (supposedly). It is unclear if any X-Men from the original trilogy will be appearing in the next film, but one actor would certainly like to make an appearance.
In a new report from Variety, Kelsey Grammer sat down with the site and discussed the X-Men franchise. Grammer is known for his portrayal as Beast in the third installment to the franchise: X-Men The Last Stand. During the interview, Grammer pointed that he would like to come back as Beast somewhere down the road.
“I hope to do another,” he said. “I hope they find some way to come up with a new story that involves Beast in my timeline.”
While the plot details of Apocalypse are unknown at this time, what is known is that movie will be following the First Class cast. Writer Simon Kinberg mention that the next film would take place in the 1983 and see the James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence again as the central characters. Kinberg also mention that there is a chance to see previous characters from the former timeline in the next film. So perhaps there is a chance to see the likes of Kelsey Grammer in Apocalypse.
While it would be great to see Grammer reprise his role as Beast in X-Men: Apocalypse, it may be unlikely. Moviegoers have already been treated to a X-men film centering on time travel. To use this element again for Apocalypse might be risky. However, one never knows. Perhaps there is a place for a conflict through time in the 2016 film, and we could see the likes of Kelsey Grammer (as well as Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman) again. If it does not come to be, fans should take comfort that we will see Beast again; just in the form of Nicholas Hoult.
