On June 19, 2014, Kelly Rowland confirmed her pregnancy by posting an Instagram photo of herself wearing a midriff-baring top that shows her baby bump while she is meditating on a yoga mat. Based on the photo, she looks about three or four months pregnant. Rowland wrote in an accompanying message: "I'm in love with boxing and yoga right now. It just feels good, it's really empowering. I just feel like I'm getting my little strength back and getting my little jabs in. I think that nothing should change whether it comes with your age or whatever. I think you should always do what you love to do."
On June 10, 2014, Rowland dropped a hint about her pregnancy when she posted an Instagram photo of a pair of child-sized Air Jordan sneakers next to a pair of adult Air Jordan sneakers. She wrote in the accompanying message: "I'll be stuntin like my daddy."
Rowland wed her manager Tim Witherspoon in a small, secretive ceremony in Costa Rica on May 9, 2014. According to Us Weekly, sisters Beyoncé Knowles and Solange Knowles were among the approximately 30 guests who attended the wedding. Beyoncé and Rowland are former members of Destiny's Child.
The Knowles sisters went to the wedding just hours after attending the Met Gala in New York City. Security footage obtained by TMZ allegedly shows Solange kicking and hitting Beyoncé's husband, Jay-Z, in an elevator at a Met Gala after-party. (All parties involved have not yet commented.) Jay-Z apparently did not attend Rowland's wedding, but Us Weekly reported that "Beyoncé took to her Instagram the same day to share a shot of herself in what appeared to be a bridesmaids dress, captioning the photo with a mere: 'Good morning.'"
An unnamed source told Us Weekly: "It was a quick, simple ceremony — only around 30 people."
In December 2013, Rowland announced that she was engaged to Witherspoon. The couple reportedly began dating each other in 2011.
On Dec. 17, 2013, "The Queen Latifah Show" released video footage of Rowland being interviewed by Queen Latifah. During the interview, Rowland talked publicly for the first time about her engagement and showed her engagement ring on TV. The interview was televised on Dec. 18, 2013.
When Queen Latifah asked Rowland to set the record straight about reports that she is engaged, Rowland smiled, showed her engagement ring, and said: "He put a ring on it."
Rowland giggled as she talked about her engagement: "It's been a while. We kept it very, very low — for years, to be completely honest ... It happened on Skype. He asked me first on Skype. And I was like, 'We're so far away from each other!'"
Rowland added, "I was in Bulgaria somewhere. It was so late. I remember honestly just staring at each other. And he asked me. It was so simple to say yes. I've got my best friend to ride through life with. He really is my best friend."
During the interview, Queen Latifah mentioned that she knew about the engagement for a long time but respected Rowland's wish to keep it a secret. In other interviews after she announced her engagement, Rowland declined to reveal details about her wedding plans.
However, Rowland did comment to Us Weekly about her wedding, which she said was "perfect" and it was a "perfect day" for her. And she had this to say about her new song "The Game," which is on the "Pepsi Beats of the Beautiful Game" compilation album (released on June 10, 2014), a celebration of the 2014 World Cup: "I’m very excited. I think the whole project is a really, really cool idea in marrying…music and visual and art all together ... I remembered my first soccer game and how much crazy energy was in the stadium and I wanted that feeling to be on the track, so I remember recording the verse like two or three times to make sure [it was right.]"
"The Game" music video (directed by Spike Lee) has premiered. Rowland does not appear in the video, which focus on a boy who is a soccer fan. Click here to watch the video.
Rowland was a presenter at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards, which was held on May 18 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. ABC had the U.S. telecast of the show. She made headlines for her skin-tight, midriff-baring top and skirt that showed no hints of her being pregnant.
On June 10, 2014, Rowland was more covered up in a pants suit when she attended the "Think Like a Man Too" premiere in Los Angeles with her former Destiny's Child band mate Michelle Williams.
Even though Rowland is not in the music video for "The Game," she, Beyoncé and Williams are in Williams' video for "Say Yes." Click here to watch the video. In 2013, the trio reunited for a Super Bowl XLVII halftime show performance in New Orleans.
Rowland (who is 33) rose to fame as a member of the singing group Destiny's Child, which first hit it big in the late 1990s. She was a judge on "The X Factor" U.K. for just one year (2011), when she replaced Dannii Minogue. Rowland has denied tabloid reports that she was fired from "The X Factor" U.K. because she asked for too much money. Rowland said that she left the show because she wanted to spend more time on recording her fourth solo album. She became a judge on "The X Factor" U.S. in 2013, when she replaced Britney Spears.
In February 2014, Fox officially announced that "The X Factor" U.S. was cancelled. The cancellation had been expected for months, due to the show's rapidly declining ratings.
As for her relationship with Witherspoon, Rowland has gone to great lengths not to discuss it too much in the media. In interviews, she does not mention his name when she is asked about the special man in her life.
In a June 2013 interview on "The Wendy Williams Show," Rowland commented about her love life and said she had a serious boyfriend but refused to name him in the interview.
Rowland laughed sheepishly as she said, "I am dating."
Wendy Williams asked, "Do you love him?"
Rowland answered, "I do. I do want to get married. I feel like I'm missing out!"
In an interview in Essence magazine's September 2013 issue, Rowland also declined to say who her significant other is. But she did repeat her wish to be a wife and mother someday: "I want to be in Miami chilling with a cute little tummy and wearing cute little dresses on the beach. And I want to be married. I do."
Rowland used to be engaged to football player Roy Williams (they broke up in 2005), who tweeted shortly after Rowland's song "Dirty Laundry" made headlines in May 2013 that he wasn't the abusive ex-boyfriend described in the song. But in a follow-up tweet, Roy Williams hinted that the abusive ex-boyfriend was Cudda Love, CEO of Fo' Real Entertainment, according to Baller Alert. When someone tweeted Roy Williams and guessed that the abuser was Cudda Love, Roy Williams replied: "#bingo. But thats not my place to speak on it .. #somanystoriespeoplejustdontknowabout."
When Wendy Williams (no relation to Roy Williams or former Destiny's Child member Michelle Williams) asked Rowland about Roy Williams, Rowland refused to talk about him and said, "Been there, done that. Ex talk is ex talk. I don't even want to [go] there. It's not worth talking about. Sorry."
