The Conglomerate Group in conjunction with Echoing Soundz presented Kelly Price & Friends Unplugged: For The Love of R&B at Tru Hollywood on Thursday, February 9th, 2012. The star-studded event served as the official celebration for Kelly Prices three nominations for the 54th GRAMMY Awards to be held on Sunday, February 12th. Price held no stops with the quality and quantity of celebrity friends that came out to bring attention and support to the importance of R&B music. For the first time ever, the Recording Academy has slashed the R&B categories in half, making a drastic reduction to only four R&B categories by merging the male and female R&B awards.
For The Love of R&B was hosted by platinum artist Faith Evans and crooner Kenny Lattimore. Music was provided by Hollywood’s Champion of New Sound, DJ B.Hen. The event was an affair to remember with live performances by Keke Wyatt, Lonny Bereal, Michel’le, Anthony Hamilton and a special duet with Kelly Price and the legendary Whitney Houston. During the red carpet arrivals, celebrities spoke of the importance of R&B and how the event will commemorate the solidarity of the musicians that are affected by the categories cut by the Recording Academy.
Kelly Price is nominated for three 2012 GRAMMY awards for ‘Best R&B Performance,’ ‘Best R&B Song,’ and ‘Best R&B Album.’ Price launched the campaign Road to the GRAMMYs to include a mix of daily social media blasts, radio and television appearances and thank you events dedicated to her fans leading up to her big day at the 54th GRAMMY Awards.
