Reality star Kelly Osbourne says people treat her better now that she has lost 42 pounds and is a shadow of her formerly heavy self.
Surprisingly, Osbourne, 25, insists she was teased more for being fat than for being a (former) drug and alcohol addict.
"I took more hell for being fat than I did for being an absolute raging drug addict," Kelly told Us. "I will never understand that."
'I WAS TEASED A LOT'
The 5'2" Osbourne, who once topped the scales at 160 pounds, says random strangers would make fun of her on the streets for being overweight.
"Some horrible obnoxious teenager screamed out a car window to me, 'You're fat!'" she recalls. "I went to my parents [Sharon and Ozzy] bawling, 'I would rather be called ugly than be called fat!'"
SELF-HATRED FUELED DRUG ADDICTION
Kelly, who has battled weight issues all her life, says she "hated" herself when she was heavier and was miserable with her looks.
Over the years, Osbourne turned to drugs and alcohol to relieve her depression and self-hatred, and wound up checking into drug and alcohol rehab three different times.
A turning point came for Kelly when she appeared on Dancing with the Stars in 2009.
Osbourne, who had never exercised regularly, lost 15 pounds while competing on the reality tv show, and has since shed an additional 25 pounds eating less, limiting carbs and sugar and working out several times a week.
"I'm really proud to look in the mirror and not hate every single thing I see," she says. "I no longer think, Why don't I look like this girl or that girl?"
EAT LESS SUGAR & CARBS
The once-unathletic Kelly now does the Bar Method workout (which combines ballet and Pilates) 2-3 times a week and follows a low glycemic index diet that limits sugars and carbohydrates.
"You work your muscles until they literally can't go anymore," says Osbourne. "My posture is so much better and I'm even starting to get muscles on my tummy. I've never had muscle before."
Meanwhile, Kelly is now happily engaged to British model Luke Worrall, 20, whom she has been dating for two years.
"I am much more confident with myself and I really do love my body now," says Osbourne. "I was never happy with my body before."

Great article!
I thought she did so good on Dancing with the stars and the fact that her dad Ozzy was there cheering her on was amazing.
I could tell she was changing and losing weight, but good for her for getting even more healthy and happy!
I cant stand Kelly or her trailer trash family but its good to see someone clean up their lives (off drugs) and embrace a healthy life style.
Teased more for being fat than a drug addict? Now that is really sad, isn't it? Either way, it's good to see someone, a star or not, take control of their lives and get healthier. Maybe it'll motivate others. Great article!
