Kelly Osbourne might have epilepsy. By definition, epilepsy, also known as "seizure disorder," is a neurological condition which affects the nervous system. On March 9, TMZ reported that Osbourne's doctors are not ruling this out and that Kelly may indeed suffer from the condition. As previously reported, the "Fashion Police" star suffered a seizure on Thursday while taping an episode of the show.
"Doctors say there's a real possibility that Kelly is an epileptic, but it's possible it was an isolated incident. If it's the latter, docs need to figure out what happened and how they can prevent another episode. In the meantime, Kelly is on anti-seizure meds," reported TMZ.
The Kelly Osbourne epilepsy diagnosis could come within the next few days. Kelly is still in the hospital and doctors are continuing to monitor her and to run tests to see if she is, in fact, epileptic. This condition can be controlled by the use of drugs, but Kelly will have to be monitored quite a bit to ensure that she doesn't have another episode. As for what causes epilepsy:
"Major causes [of epilepsy] include damage to the brain in the prenatal period or during birth, brain tumors, head trauma resulting from accidents, infections such as meningitis, as well as strokes, especially in older patients" (via umdnj.edu).
A Kelly Osbourne epilepsy diagnosis would come on the heels of her brother's diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. Jack Osbourne learned that he had the debilitating disease last summer.
