Kelly Monaco certainly knows what it takes to be a “Dancing with the Stars” champion. She nabbed the first mirror ball trophy ever on season one of the popular dance competition. The star of “General Hospital” made a live appearance on “Good Morning America” on March 19 to dish on who she thinks will go far this season.
Monaco was on hand to see the couples dance last night and then flew right away to chat with “GMA” host Robin Roberts this morning. Of course, she was first asked her thoughts on Val Chmerkovskiy and his partner this time around, Zendaya Coleman. She said they were fantastic!
“They blew me away. I think they blew everyone away,” the soap star said. “They got eights but I think they deserved tens. I didn’t see one flaw in that whole routine.”
She went on to gush on how Val is such an amazing teacher and choreographer and that Zendaya is a fantastic student. She said that they are the couple to watch. Speaking of couples, this might have been the first interview to date that has not inquired as to whether Kelly and Val were truly a couple. They have been spotted together quite often since they were making chemistry on the ballroom floor, but nothing official has been announced and they are okay with that.
As for the other dancing couples, Kelly Monaco said that she was most surprised by Ingo Rademacher, her “General Hospital” co-star. She mentioned how nervous he was to perform his contemporary dance with pro partner Kym Johnson. She talked about how difficult it is to put yourself out here before the judges and all of America.
The 36-year-old actress called Andy Dick the 'comeback kid' and also mentioned how much ‘out of control’ chemistry that Derek Hough and Kellie Pickler had on the dance floor. She put Derek and Kellie on her top three list of couples to win the competition. She also gave a shout out to her “General Hospital” family for being there to support her during her dancing stint on last season’s show. She mentioned how important it is to have familiar faces in the audience to cheer them on.
It sounds like Kelly Monaco may be in the audience often to support both Val Chmerkovskiy and her “GH” buddy Ingo Rademacher and their partners.
Are you rooting for either of these couples to win this season of “Dancing with the Stars?”
