Kelly Clarkson and Beyonce are top trending news topics on Twitter on Tuesday, Jan. 22 with people talking about whose performance topped whose at Monday's inauguration. TMZ also reported that there is no comparison between Kelly's live performance and Beyonce's pre-recorded lip sync.
A United States Marine Corp band spokesperson told TMZ that Beyonce did lip-sync the words to "The Star Spangled Banner" with a pre-recorded studio version, while Kelly Clarkson opted for the full on live version of "My Country Tis of Thee."
The rep claims it's standard procedure to record a backing track before a live performance such as this in case of any unforeseen issues, and Beyonce had just decided at the last minute to lip sync along with the studio version instead of relying on herself.
The rep added, "We all know Beyonce can sing. We don't know why she chose to use the pre-recorded track."
