It seemed virtually everyone got a standing ovation at the end of the American Music Awards 2011 except for Kelly Clarkson. And all she did was fill out a red glittery dress that puts Jessica Rabbit to shame, and belted out a unique version of her hit song “Mr. Know It All.”
We can talk all day about Kelly Clarkson’s strong AMA performance, but I want to hit on something else: her curves.
There’s no doubt that Clarkson takes some jabs from those in the media for being “bigger,” but when Kelly came out in that red dress on Sunday night, she put the doubters to shame. Showing every young girl and aspiring recording artist that you don’t have to be a size 0 to be a mega superstar, Kelly proudly shimmied around the stage as faux photographers snapped pictures of the former “American Idol.”
Artists like Taylor Swift may have gotten all the accolades at the American Music Awards, but Kelly Clarkson made a powerful, non-verbal statement on that stage last night. That no matter your size or what people say about you, you can succeed if in any business if you’re confident, driven, and proud of who you are.
