The 32-year-old Kelly Clarkson tweeted the joyous news two days after the birth of her first-born child with husband Brandon Blackstock, “Our baby girl River Rose Blackstock arrived on June 12.” The American Idol alum and Grammy winner then went on to thank her fans for their well wishes and finished with, “Brandon and I are on cloud 9!” Within only three hours of the Twitter post, Clarkson’s baby announcement has more than 10,000 favorites and received over 3,500 retweets.
Brandon Blackstock, 37, and Kelly Clarkson began dating in February of 2012. The new dad is Clarkson’s manager’s son and also Reba McEntire’s stepson. Kelly and Brandon were married October 20, 2013, and according to Us Weekly announced the pregnancy via Twitter shortly after in November, as the “best early Christmas present ever.”
Since her wedding, the “Miss Independent” singer has been very vocal about wanting to expand her family with her new husband, who has two children from his previous marriage, son Seth, 7, and daughter Savannah, 11. During an interview with Elvis Duran, Kelly confessed she wanted two more children; a fact she claims “freaked out” her record label.
But, Kelly Clarkson's first pregnancy was not an easy one. The Texas native told Ellen DeGeneres she vomits a “good dozen times a day. You’re not attractive when you’re pregnant.” In January the couple discovered the new baby was a girl and again, Kelly Clarkson tweeted her excitement, “Only a girl could cause this much drama with all this vomiting ha!” The mama of the newborn baby girl has no idea how much drama girls actually create. Just wait until River Rose, Kelly Clarkson’s bundle of joy, is a teenager that wants her own "independence."
