Kelly Clarkson gay rumors have been around for some time now, but they have been heating up in the recent days. However, the ex-American Idol doesn't seem to be fazed by the rumors. She even claims "the hottest girls ever" are hitting on her as a result, according to a Jan. 3 report from The Huffington Post. She says,
“I mean, I get hit on by the hottest girls ever. Oh, my god, if I were a lesbian, I would be so in luck. But it’s not just my thing. I’ve always battled for the boys’ team.”
During an interview with Cosmopolitan, she addressed the rumors by stating that they are due to her very private and previously non-existent dating life. She said:
"People think, 'Oh, she's been single for too long. That's kind of an insult to the gay community. Being single doesn't mean you're gay. But I'm never insulted by it, obviously. I mean, I get hit on by the hottest girls ever. Oh, my god, if I were a lesbian, I would be so in luck. But it's just not my thing."
This isn't the first time she has tried to put the gay rumors to rest. Back in September of 2011 she also went on the defense by saying:
“I just think it is very ignorant to assume that you know everything about someone," she told E! News about her sexuality. "People keep saying that I’m gay and … yeah, I’m not. I’m pretty sure I’ve never made out with girl. Sometimes, I wish I were because at this point, I would probably get hit on by a lot of girls! It’s just not helping me because I am straight. No boy wants to hit on me because I make mean songs about them and they think I’m gay.”
If Clarkson, 30, is truly gay, then her recent engagement to Brandon Blackstock must be a sham. The "Since U Been Gone" singer has announced her engagement to the talent manager that she's been dating since last February.
Although it's pretty certain that the Clarkson gay rumors are unsubstantiated, she does support gay rights and has praised President Barack Obama for his views on the matter.
