Kelly Clarkson has kicked off 2013 with a bang. The entertainer announced her engagement in December, but the latest news might just top getting married. The first American Idol winner will be heading to Washington, for a special performance all of America will be watching. On Wednesday it was announced that Kelly will be performing for the 57th Presidential Inauguration and the star is tickled to be asked.
“Excited & honored to announce that I'll be performing 'America (My Country 'Tis of Thee)' at the 57th Presidential Inauguration on Jan. 21!” tweeted Kelly Clarkson from her official Twitter account. The entertainer has been working hard performing for fans, but this presentation will be extra special for the artist.
While some entertainers wish to be asked to special performances, it appears that those artists going to the inauguration are seasoned performers. In addition to Kelly Clarkson, there was an announcement that Beyoncé and James Taylor will also be part of the event.
