Beyonce's lip-synch moment during the presidential inauguration on Monday has everyone reviewing the performances on the steps of the U.S. Capitol during the public swearing in of President Obama. While Beyonce has yet to discuss her decision, Kelly Clarkson is distancing herself from the star. On Tuesday Kelly Clarkson’s reps told Gossip Cop that the first American Idol winner decided to sing live.
Kelly Clarkson stepped up to the microphone to preform about midway through the inaugural ceremony. Her amazing performance of My Country, ‘Tis of Thee was emotionally felt around the country and many fans assumed it was live. While she could have decided to play a taped version of the song, as every artist has a recorded version just in case there is a problem, Clarkson kept it genuine and real.
The decision to sing live or lip sync is up to the artist. However, as dramatic as Beyonce looked standing in front of the podium and mouthing the words, some people are a little put off that she decided not to sing live. Perhaps the obvious moment was when she took the earpiece out of her ear towards the end of the song.
