On Oct. 10, Kelly Clarkson and Will.i.am appeared on “Good Morning America” to reveal the names of the 2013 American Music Awards nominees from five major categories. It marked the first time “GMA” was tapped for the big announcement. Combined, Clarkson and Will.i.am have been nominated 19 times, so they’re certainly no strangers to the annual music fest.
Clarkson, who just ended her tour with Maroon 5, stated that she’s excited for the 2013 AMAs, but even more excited to get married. She said on Thursday that her wedding will take place in Tenn. “We’re doing it real small,” she added. She also stated that one of her favorite groups is Imagine Dragons, who will perform during the 2013 American Music Awards.
Will.i.am also talked about this year’s awards and said that he is excited about Miley Cyrus. “I can’t wait for her performance. I hope she performs ‘Wrecking Ball,'” he told the “GMA” hosts. He went on to add that he heard the song a year ago and was very impressed with it.
According to Yahoo Music, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are this year's leading contenders, with six nominations. Taylor Swift and Justin Timberlake are next in line, with five each. Florida Georgia Line, Rihanna, and Robin Thicke each garnered four 2013 AMA nominations.
