Kelly Bensimon previews her return to 'RHONY'

Viewers of "The Real Housewives of New York City" will see a familiar face soon - that of former housewife Kelly Bensimon. In an interview with Wetpaint Entertainment, posted on Wednesday, April 30, Kelly spoke about the circumstances that lead her to filming some scenes for the latest season and whether she would ever come back as a starring housewife.

As it happens, Kelly's strong friendship with a current housewife is what got her in. Kelly revealed that it was LuAnn de Lesseps, who scaled back her participation to that of a recurring housewife for season six, who asked her to come on the show with her. Specifically, LuAnn wanted her to walk in a fashion show for her and surprise all of the other ladies.

Kelly said that the experience was fun. In particular, she enjoyed meeting housewife Carole Radziwill, whom she found to be "incredibly smart, funny, and charming." The two hit it off so well that Kelly even set Carole, who broke up with her musician boyfriend after season five, on some dates. Unfortunately for the curious, Kelly completely forget to follow up and ask Carole how the dates went. Perhaps the dates will provide the inspiration for Carole's next book?

Considering how much fun Kelly had filming scenes for the current season, would she ever come back in a starring role? Kelly was quite open to the suggestion, pointing out that she loved being on three seasons of the show, but implied that she would only ever consider coming back if the show was more natural rather than scripted.

Kelly also implied that the current cast is a bit lacking, saying that if the show would only tap into the "amazing, type A personalities" that New York is full of, she would definitely come back on. Kelly Bensimon, who is currently busy promoting her new fragrance, left "The Real Housewives of New York City" after season four, along with Jill Zarin, Alex McCord and Cindy Barshop.
