NASHVILLE, Tenn., February 24, 2013 - Country superstar Kellie Pickler will be joining the upcoming season of Dancing with the Stars, a source reveals to TMZ. While the official announcement will be made on Good Morning America on Tuesday, Feb. 26, the confirmed insider appears to be a credible source. Also joining the new season, set for March 18, is Country legend Wynonna Judd, formerly a member of the ground-breaking duo The Judds with mother Naomi.
A rep from the show neither confirms nor denies the report, saying, "We do not comment on casting rumors, but tune in to 'GMA' on Tuesday when we reveal the cast live!"
Pickler, whose latest studio album 100 Proof failed to generate a viable radio hit, parted ways with Sony Music Nashville last summer. A few months later, the "Tough" singer landed on her feet by signing a new record deal with Black River Entertainment. “In looking for a label partner, I was really drawn to the Black River family because they hold similar values that I do,” she says. “From our initial meeting, it was clear to me how much the entire team respects the artists’ musical vision, and I’m really looking forward to getting back into the studio to record and release new music to country radio.”
Over the past five months, Pickler has been writing and recording in Nashville for her BRE debut. The American Idol alum is expected to make a big splash at the upcoming CRS event, possibly revealing new material. “We are excited to have the opportunity to partner with CRS in presenting this exciting, fast paced show featuring Craig Morgan, Sarah Darling and Black River Entertainment’s debut of Kellie Pickler,” says Black River’s VP of Promotion, Bill Macky. “Country Radio will be the first to hear some of this amazing new music. We’ve also got a few surprises planned too, so do not miss this show.”
