GLENDALE, Ky., March 3, 2013 - Country superstar Kellie Pickler's drummer, Gregg Lohman, 36, was involved in a four-vehicle crash yesterday (March 2), reports WHAS 11. The crash took place in the mid-morning hours on Interstate 65 merely three miles outside of the city. University of Louisville Hospital spokesman David McArthur confirmed that Lohman was involved in the accident, which injured three people, and is currently in serious condition.
According to the Kentucky State Police, Lohman (from Goodlettsville, TN) was involved in a crash on the southbound side after slowing for another similar wreck that occurred 16 minutes prior on the northbound side. A 2013 Freightliner, operated by Mark Bowser, 58, did not see the slowed traffic ahead and rear-ended Lohman's vehicle. In turn, Lohman struck a 2005 Saturn SUV driven by Victor Martinka, 53, which then hit a 2012 Chevrolet SUV, driven by Stephanie Yates, 55. The report continues, noting Lohman's head and neck injuries. He was airlifted to U of L Hospital soon after.
Pickler's publicist released a statement earlier this afternoon, saying:
"I'm so sorry say to say this, but I can confirm it is a member of our band. Unfortunately we do not have additional details at this time. I'll update you when we do."
Kentucky State Police Trooper Norman Chaffins says that despite snow flurries sweeping the area, weather was not a factor in the accident.
Pickler took to her Twitter to ask fans to keep him in their prayers:
"Yesterday, my drummer Gregg Lohman was in a horrific car accident & is currently in ICU. Gregg is not just my drummer, he is family. I believe in miracles & the power of prayer, so it would mean the world to me, my band, & Gregg's family if you would please keep him in your prayers."
