Keith Urban talks about the new haircut and ‘American Idol’

Keith Urban has answered the important haircut question and discussed the new season of “American Idol.” The Globe and Mail reported on Jan. 20, 2014 how Urban felt about cutting his signature locks and who gave him the nudge to just get it done.

Urban was asked “Was that difficult, cutting it?” Urban replied by saying “Not really. I just wanted something different and I kept putting it off because we were doing the audition cities, and then I said to Nic ‘when should I get my hair cut?’ She goes ‘just cut it.”

Urban continued discussing his actress wife Nicole Kidman by adding “She doesn’t get caught up in all that stuff. I think because she plays so many characters. She’s like just ‘cut your hair; what’s the big deal? It’s hair. If you don’t like it, it’ll grow back.”

The “American Idol” questions continue now that the thirteenth season is underway with a new set of judges joining Urban behind the table. Urban was asked about the effect last season’s drama will have on this season and the change in the ratings.

The question “Do you feel the weight of that on your shoulders?” was asked during the interview with Urban responding “Not at all. I don’t know what I would do about it anyway. No matter where the ratings are, we’re going to go in and give it everything. But I think the show might pick back up again."

Urban added “I think it lost a lot of people last season. Because it lost its spirit. It’s got a good spirit and it went to a slightly odd place and I think they’ve sort of recalibrated that now and hopefully the people that went away last season will come back.”

Fans have a chance to come back to “American Idol” on Jan. 22, 2014 with Detroit auditions and Jan. 23, 2014 where the audition rounds continue from Atlanta. The judges continue listening to the hopefuls perform during auditions on Jan. 29, 2014 and Jan. 30, 2014.

The newly added “Hollywood or Home” round happens on Feb. 5, 2014 with the three night special “Rush Week” starting up on February 18, 2014 through Feb. 20, 2014. The live competition begins with the top 13 finalists competing on Feb. 26, 2014.
