Keith Richards has surpassed one million likes on his official Facebook page. The iconic Rolling Stones guitarist has enjoyed a resurgence of popularity along with The Stones in the wake of their recent 14 On Fire Tour and various 50th anniversary activities.
According to an update at The Rolling Stones official Facebook page, the rock n' roll badboy received a little help in reaching the milestone from his bandmates. Three hours prior to the announcement, The Stones' Facebook page posted an update noting that Keef's page was just shy of a million likes and urged fans help to him surpass the mark on the popular online social networking site.
Thousands of fans quickly responded to the post and within a few short hours the veteran British rocker's page had earned 1,000,002,283 likes and counting. The Stones offered their congratulations, writing, "Nice one, Keith! Over one million Facebook likes!"
The Rolling Stones performed the final date of their 2014 European tour leg on July 3 in Denmark. The legendary British rockers capped the 14 On Fire summer trek with a headline performance at Denmark's Roskilde Festival.
The rock legend, once dubbed 'the world's most elegantly wasted human being" carries on like some rock n' roll Energizer Bunny. Richards has been busy with solo activities, recently chatting about his love of the blues and playing favorite album tracks on "My Planet Rocks, a Planet Rock radio special which aired June 29. Earlier in the year, he collaborated with a score of international musicians on a remake of his song "Words of Wonder" from his second solo album "Main Offender." Fusing the song with a Keb Mo led version of Bob Marley's "Get Up Stand," the video premiered as part of Playing For Change, a movement created to inspire and connect different cultures through music.
The "Happy" hitmaker turned 70-years-old on Dec. 18, 2013 and also celebrated his 30th wedding anniversary with his wife, former model Patti Hansen - on the same day. Richards also became a grandfather to a baby boy in February, courtesy of his daughter Angela Richards. He now has five grandchildren, three from his son Marlon and two from Angela.
The Stones will take a couple of months off before their fall 14 On Fire Tour leg of Australia and New Zealand. Presented by Frontier Touring in association with AEG Live, the Down Under trek kicks off on Oct. 25 in Adelaide, Australia at the Adelaide Oval. For more details, click here.
