Keith Richards bad influence on Johnny Depp

Keith Richards’ hard partying ways are allegedly taking their toll on actor Johnny Depp

Showbizspy.com claims that Depp has been staying up all night with The Rolling Stone bad boy, whom the actor befriended on the set of “Pirates of the Caribbean.”

”Johnny’s movie star good looks are completely wrecked after a night of drinking with Keith,” a source told American tabloid the National Enquirer

“It’s gotten so bad that Johnny wakes up and his pretty boy face is bloated from the boozing. Keith, gave up drugs, but still likes to drink, and he and Johnny have supposedly been overdoing it almost every night.

“That’s why the crew has a tub of ice ready for him every morning.”

“Johnny and Keith’s friendship is based on a mutual respect for music, art — and drinking."

Richards is reprising his role as Captain Teague, the father of Captain Jack Sparrow (played by Johnny Depp), in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” which will be release May 20, 2011.

Depp, a guitarist himself, and a friend of Richards’ son, recently helped narrate the audiobook for Keith Richard’s best selling biography “Life” and is also working on a documentary based on the life of the veteran rocker.

Did you know?  Johnny Depp has said his “Pirates of the Carribbean.”character Jack Sparrow was modeled after the mannerisms of Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards.

Johnny is one of my favorite actors, a real talent, however, according to a few that have worked with him behind the scene while filming, he is also a manic depressive -- poor guy! Stop blaming Keith!

The operative word in the story is "claims." I'm not sure how much truth there is to the story. Keef's "bad boy" image is partly real, but a good part of it has been carefully groomed beginning way back when Andrew Loog Oldham manged the band and carefully contrived The Rolling Stones' "bad boy" image to market as a contrast to squeaky clean Beatles. Oldham used to concoct stories like this just to keep The Stones in the press. Hopefully Depp is not overdoing things, and if he is, I doubt Keef is holding him at gunpoint making him drink. This kind of press won't hurt Keith at all - quite the contrary - it'll merely help him sell more copies of his autobio "Life. " I appreciate the comments Chrissie. Canada Music Examiner
