Leading up to the anniversary of the March on Washington (Aug. 28) , when Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his historic “I Have a Dream” speech, Comcast is helping people hear the stories of those who were a part of the major event.
Created by Comcast, His Dream, Our Stories is a video compilation to help chronicle the history and impact of the March on Washington, the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and the Civil Rights Movement with more than 80 personal interviews with civic leaders, elders, clergy and activists.
One story is told by Telluride resident Peter Yarrow. Peter shares his experience that day when he and his band mates of the folk music group Peter, Paul & Mary received a call from acclaimed singer, actor and civil rights activist Harry Belafonte to perform at the March. Additional interviews include Rev. Jesse Jackson, Sr., former U.N. Ambassador Andrew Young, Ernest Green of the Little Rock Nine and other political leaders and attendees of the March on Washington, the Detroit Walk to Freedom and the Selma-Montgomery March.
His Dream, Our Stories footage will be featured on NBC-owned TV stations, Xfinity On Demand and online at Xfinity.com/MLK, MSNBC and RollingStone.com. It’ll be permanently at available on HisDreamOurStories.com with the option for visitors to submit their own stories.
