No matter what location one is in when it comes to winter, proper protection from the cold is very important. It can mean life or death for pets!
Even though Mississippi tends to have many months of warm temps, it can also get quite cold.
In the history of weather for Mississippi, it has been common for it to be freezing and even below freezing!
Kittens and puppies can be exceptionally vulnerable, not to mention other critters, and humans, as well.
Pets need special attention and care. Pet owners should not take it for granted that their pet is warm, even if their pet has a lot of hair or fur.
Here are tips for keeping pets warm from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:
•Listen to weather forecasts.
•Check your emergency supplies.
•Have your chimney or flue inspected each year.
•Install a smoke detector and a battery-operated carbon monoxide detector. Test the batteries each month, and replace them twice a year.
•Weatherproof your home.
•Bring your pets indoors during the winter.
Keep your pets warm during a cold snap!
