Now of course this information is served up 50's style, but hey, if you like the sort of advice such as that given in "Ladies Home Journal." then you'll love this book.
"How to keep your husband happy" advice according to Joan Crawford
Point 1: When he arrives home from work after a long day, make sure that the kids have had dinner first so that you will not be distracted by them. You'll want to make sure that your husband can have a peaceful dinner without distraction.
Point 2: Before he arrives home, you'll need to make sure that you are all dressed and ready for him. In her book she states that a woman will want to have "her beauty treatments behind her and is groomed, fragrant, and looking ready" for a night with her man. Translation: no uncombed hair-tied up, no rollers, and for God's sake no sweat pants.
Point 3: On the rare occasion that you might be running a little behind on dinner, make sure that you have something in the refrigerator that you can easily prepare fast, such as: pot roast, lobster, creamed chicken or meat loaf.
Point 4: A wife/woman should also keep up her appearance and not let herself go. She should be sultry and sexy, because after all, he is seeing lots of beautiful women at the office all day long. That's a guarantee, Joan goes on to explain.
Point 5: Always be able to converse with your husband about his work. Be knowledgeable and act interested in what he does for living.
Point 6: Don't bore him to death with conversations about the bills or the kids, or at least, not when he first arrives home. Spend the evening in a relaxed state. Turn off the phone and offer him his favorite beverage, such as his favorite wine or his favorite juice.
Point 7: Above everything keep the relationship fresh, exciting and fun--not only for your husband, but for yourself.
