Keenen Ivory Wayans guest stars on TV Land's "Happily Divorced" tonight

It's not looking good for a 21st century In Living Color reboot, but that's not stopping its creator Keenen Ivory Wayans. Making his first television acting appearance in the new millennium, Wayans plays the college boyfriend of Tichina Arnold's character Judi, whom he's found 20 years later, on tonight's episode of TV Land's Happily Divorced starring Fran Drescher.

For Wayans, tonight's appearance is more about helping his friends than about himself. "This was something that I did because I have friends who work on the show and they asked me to do it so it seemed like something that would be fun. It was a funny script so I said 'yes,'" Wayans explained during a intimate conference call.

Although it's been a while, Wayans didn't experience any rusty moments. "With Tichina, it was easy because we know each other," he said. "So we just took whatever it was and had as much fun as we possibly we could."

Very careful to stay in his lane, Wayans said, "It's her episode and I wanted her to shine as much as possible, so whatever she needed me to do, I was there and it was fun."

As for seeing more Keenen Ivory Wayans on Happily Divorced, don't hold your breath. "I think when you see [the episode], you'll understand that there's no way to do that," he explained.

Happily Divorced airs Wednesdays at 10:30 PM ET/PT on TV Land
