Kean vs. TCNJ men's basketball preview (Photos)

The TCNJ men's basketball team is trying to avoid a two-game losing streak at home.

The Lions lost their last home game by 4 points, losing 65-61 to William Paterson. And now, Kean University Cougars (6-10) and The College of New Jersey Lions (4-12) are close to tip-off.

The Lions lost back-to-back homes games in November. In those two games in three days, the Lions lost Centenary College and Richard Stockton College.

But the Lions are hoping that this upcoming result isn't a loss, but a win. See, a win would give the Lions a sweep of the Cougars.

On December 1, 2012, the Lions beat the Cougars 63-52 in Union, New Jersey on the Kean campus. The Lions haven't swept the Cougars in many years.

In the past five seasons, the Lions were swept by the Cougars. Or, both teams split the series.

But the Lions come into this game with just 1 win at home in the past two months. That win came ten days ago against Montclair State.

In that game, the Lions won 66-57 on January 9, 2013. Skyelar Ettin led the Lions with 22 points in that home contest.

Kean is not too much better on the road. They are just 2-6 on the road, with both wins coming in December.

The Cougars won on December 8th against New Jersey City, winning 55-48. Four days later on December 12th, they defeated William Paterson, winning 67-45.

This is the Cougars third road trip this month. And they lost both road games so far, with the first road loss coming on January 2nd against Moravian College, losing 63-54 in the Greyhounds Classic.

On January 12th, the Cougars lost to Montclair State, losing 76-64. But while the Cougars lost to the Red Hawks, the Lions were able to beat the Red Hawks, as previously mentioned.

The Cougars have only one player that is averaging double-figures. Michael Burton is averaging 14.3 points per game.

Kyle Latorre is the next closest player to average dougle-figures with 9 points per game. All other players are averaging less than 8 points.

Jayson Johnson is leading the Lions attack with 11.9 points per game. Ettin is averaging 11.2 points per game.

Matthew Rista and Alex Fox are both averaging 10.8 points per game. All other players are averaging less than 7 points per game.
