KCWIFT premieres new documentary about GLOW, Inc.

Kansas City Women in Film & Television (KCWIFT) screens new short documentary based on GLOW, Inc. (Girls Leading Our World), a Kansas City based organization that champions young girls in impoverished environments through a mentoring program focused on life skills.

KCWIFT is an all-volunteer non-profit that works with female and male film professionals to raise awareness for women in film and is committed to creating more film based opportunities for female screenwriters, producers, animators, critics and reaches into any area where film touches employment possibilities. The local organization has developed a strong relationship with the international WIF institution through its efforts.

As a part of its promise to Kansas City, each year KCWIFT fiscally sponsors a charity that could benefit from its experience and ever increasing connection to the Kansas City public. This year’s campaign brings that unrelenting support to an organization sustained by two women using their own savings since 2009, to assist girls in need.

A short documentary was conceived as a great way to offer care. With a documentary KCWIFT helps bring deserved attention to GLOW, Inc. The piece also serves as a marketing tool the charity can use for years to come, a product a small, but growing, charity like this may have otherwise not been able to procure.

After months of campaigning, KCWIFT raised money from Indiegogo supporters for a Missouri Arts Council matching grant which financed the venture. Now, the film and GLOW, Inc. are ready for their public introduction.

In a red carpet premiere at Screenland Crown Center, one of Kansas City’s most artful movie-houses, join KCWIFT and GLOW, Inc. to celebrate the completion of this project and to learn more about GLOW, Inc. and its girls.

Sponsored by CinemaKC, GLOW Documentary premieres Sunday, June 29, 2014, at 12:30 p.m. The event begins with a red carpet, advances with the screening of the film and it ends with a Q&A with the documentary director, Cara Meyers, and the two founders of GLOW, Inc., Cynthia Saddler and LaVeeda Simmons.

Enjoy free popcorn, light refreshments and the opportunity to see our Kansas City girls glow. Screenland Crown Center is located on level three of the Crown Center Shopping venue at 2450 Grand Blvd., Kansas City, MO. This event is free.
