Let me count the awe inspiring ways Lidia's Gourmet Italian Restaurant satisfies my finicky palate. Examiner.com was present 15 years ago at Lidia's, when they had their "grand opening" in the Crossroads District. And we were impressed, then, with its menu selections of delectable tried and true Italian cuisines. Now 15 years later Lidia Bastianich, "one of the most beloved authors and chefs in America,"to coin a phrase from her new cookbook, "Lidia's Favorite Recipes," will be coming back to KC to celebrate her glorious 15th year anniversary September 4, 2013. Yes, the celebrity chef will fly in from Italy for one day to re-christen her Kansas City Crossroads-based restaurant. She will be anxiously awaiting KC to serve her four-course dinner at 101 W. 22nd St. underneath the historic lit Western Auto sign. Starting at 5 o'clock until 9 pm. you will be ingratiated with her charming Italian savoir-faire.
Lidia will be accompanied by her administrative right-arm, General Manager Matt Green, and Executive Chef Dan Swinney, Chef Daniel Walker, and Chef Cody Hogan. She will be able to pick fresh basil and herbs, right out of her onsite herb garden for her KC patrons. She will make her "love letter" of food, more intimate with conversation, exquisite wine pairings and outstanding customer service, as shown by the included pictures evoke of a recent media group dinner . Examiner.com and media guests were treated to some of "Lidia's Favorite Summertime Recipes"
Some of the 100 recipes you will be able to try out from this "best of the best" cookbook are:
Fried Mozzarella Skewers - Spiedini alla Romana
Escarole and White Bean Soup - Zappa di Scarola e Cannellini
Ziti with Broccoli Rabe and Sausage - Ziti con Broccoli Rabe e Salsicce
Baked Stuffed Shells - Conchiglie Ripiene al Forno
Eggplant Parmigiana - Melanzane alla Parmigiana
Savory Seafood Stew - Zuppa di Pesce
