Kayak gives tips to avoid crowds traveling this August

Have you been traveling this summer?

You know the crowds are out in full force.

From business travelers to families to college kids heading back to school, the skies are a busy place.

But some places are a bargain this time of the year.

“Travelers should head to Denver, where median airfare for August is $278 - the cheapest of the top 50 most-searched destinations on Kayak.com," Kayak Spokesperson Maria Katime says. "The media hotel rate was also the 4th cheapest this summer at $131 per night.”

Kayak is offering four great tips to save and avoid crowds this August.

Here we go:

Deals: August vs July

Here's something surprising- the median airfare found on Kayak to London was about 19% cheaper for travel in August as compared to July (now at $1,235). This would be the biggest price drop of the top 50 most-searched destinations around the world. If price is a factor when it comes to your travel, Americans should look towards "The Big Easy" and New Orleans for a median fare of $324. This happens to be the second biggest drop in airfare compared to July.

Avoid Crowds and Save

New Orleans also saw the biggest drop - an impressive 38% when it comes to median hotel rate, down to a great price of $142 per night. Flight and hotel searches to the Big Easy also have dropped significantly for travel in August. Kayak says the deals are there- fewer crowds on Bourbon Street mean shorter waits at Café Du Monde. Yum, I can taste it now.

Overall Cheapest

Looking for deals? Sure we all are, but where is the best place to go to get away for the least amount possible? Travelers should go to Denver, where the median airfare for August is $278. As I mentioned earlier, that is the cheapest of the top 50 most-searched destinations. Also, the fourth cheapest hotel rates.

Oh Canada

Vancouver and Toronto are again two of the top two trending flight destinations for August. Both cities have jumped 25% in searches compared to July. That's quite a bit, and in turn the median airfare has increased for those two cities. Using this intel from Kayak, it may be best to wait to take that trip to Canada.

Everyone should have the Kayak app on their mobile device and it's always good to check out www.kayak.com when making your travel arrangements.
