Georgia might be the center of the college football world come Labor Day weekend.
If you didn't know, the brand-spanking new College Football Hall of Fame will have just opened in Downtown Atlanta and there are huge college football games taking place in the biggest city in the South.

Here are two big games and anytime you bring in an SEC school like Mississippi, a team that is always a BCS contender in Boise St., a rabid fan base like West Virginia and the powerhouse and tradition that is Alabama, you have a huge weekend of football.
Athens, GA is also going to be a hotbed of football that weekend per Kayak.
Athens, GA, saw an astounding 3,000% increase in hotel searches compared to flanking weekends, undoubtedly due to the University of Georgia opening their football season against rival Clemson at home.
Compared to flanking weekends, hotel rates in Atlanta (Labor Day weekend) increased 43% to an average $213 and Athens increased 36% to an average $217.
If you aren't a football fan, don't fret. There are other things to do and other places to visit on Labor Day.
Also going on in Atlanta during Labor Day weekend is the ultra-popular DragonCon multigenre conference/convention. It annually draws 50,000+ to Downtown Atlanta.

Another option is the old Texas two-step. Two cities in Texas are a deal when it comes to hotels.
