Kaufman County deputies traffic stop leads to recovery of stolen property

Crandall, Texas- Kaufman County deputies made a traffic stop on January 28, 2012, that resulted in the recovery of stolen vehicles, stolen property and illegal narcotics. They stopped a green Dodge truck that was pulling a white cargo trailer when they noticed that the tags were expired. The traffic stop occurred at eastbound Highway 175 near Seagoville.

Deputies discovered that the truck was stolen out of Balch Springs and the trailer was stolen from Mesquite. According to KCSO Spokeswoman Pat Laney, “As deputies searched the vehicle and trailer the KCSO K-9 alerted deputies to possible drugs on the driver’s side of the vehicle.” The K-9 was correct. Methamphetamine was found hidden in the area the dog alerted to. Arrested were Roger McKinley, 45, of Seagoville and Tony Michael Caddell, 28, of Dallas.

Kaufman County Investigators took two additional suspects into custody after their investigation into the theft of the trailer. Dallas resident’s Shawn Creed Shaw, 33, and Anthony Gaddis, 44, were arrested on outstanding warrants. Gaddis also had a probation violation. Investigators discovered stolen property from the trailer at a residence in Balch Springs. They also recovered stolen four wheelers worth approximately $25,000.00.
