The Russell the Rooster Show is in its 17th season on the Garden Island of Kauai, but on January 18, 2014 at 8:00am, the show will premiere statewide on OC 16.
The half-hour children’s program was developed by Mark Jeffers, Wil Welsh, and Dr. Robert Zelkovsky and is produced by the Storybook Theatre of Hawaii. The show stars a ‘kolohe’ rooster puppet named Russell and his unlikely friend, Calvin Barker the dog. Children enjoy the antics of Russell and Calvin as they visit their friends in different locations on the island of Kauai.
The Russell the Rooster Show has been described as “edutainment” or entertainment with an educational flavor. In the show, children are immersed into the culture, language, and geography of Kauai as Russell and Calvin take them on adventures to the unique places that make the Kauai an extraordinary place to live. Children are also introduced to distinctive Kauai residents that make a difference in the community.
The Storybook Theatre staff and board of trustees would like to welcome the new statewide Television Audiences on Oceanic Time Warner Cable TV and wish to thank everyone who tunes in the show.
The New Russell the Rooster Show premieres this Saturday on January 18th, 2014 at 8:00am on the OC16 Statewide network as seen on channel 12.
The program will be seen on OC16 Channel 12 on Mondays at 7am, Tuesdays at 3pm, Thursdays at 2:30pm, Fridays at 6am and Saturdays and Sundays at 8am
Mark Jeffers, the founder of Storybook Theatre, is excited about the program’s new journey on Hawaii television and hopes that this show will give Hawaii’s keiki great, locally originated, non-violent children’s TV.
