Katy Perry weighs 130 lbs: 'I used to be 145 and had a square shape'

Curvaceous Katy Perry, who's dieting and working out nonstop to prep for her world tour, says she used to be shaped like a square!

“I was shaped like a square at one time," Perry, 26, tells the March 2011 issue of Elle.

"I’m generally around 130 pounds, which is totally fine for me. But when I was a kid, I was the same height and weighed more like 145."

The 5'8" Katy, who wanted breast reduction surgery at age 13, longed to be flat-chested as a kid. "I had enormous boobs that I didn’t know what to do with, so I wore minimizers, which were not cute," Perry recounts.

"Those thick-*ss straps! I got made fun of for the over-the-shoulder boulder holder, and all I wanted was to look like Kate Moss. Little did I know that these things would come in handy some day.”

Boy, have they ever! Katy, who beat out Megan Fox and Angelina Jolie to top Maxim's Hot 100 list in 2010, is adored by fans around the world for her bootylicious curves, quirky sex appeal and avant-garde fashion style.

Perry, who's set to perform Feb. 13 at the 2011 Grammy Awards, is prepping for a 95-city world tour that kicks off in Portugal Feb. 20 and wraps Nov. 2, 2011 in Dublin.

Before she hit it big, Katy could barely pay her bills.

“I had two cars repossessed, and I was writing bad checks, but I gave myself a timeline," she recalls. "I thought, Okay, if I don’t make it by 25, I’m just going to get married and pop out some babies and do some crafts.”

Perry, who married British comedian Russell Brand, 35, in October 2010, says her marriage works because she and her husband complement each other.

“Everything clicked really fast," she says. "We kind of instantly got past all the surfacey stuff. And ever since then, there hasn’t been a dull moment.

“We both needed balance, and we give that to each other. It wasn’t about me taming him, which is what everyone always says—it was about timing.”

Perry shares other thoughts in March Elle:

On balancing work and her personal life:

“I think you can have it all. You just have to work really hard, because great things don’t come easily. Everyone’s been told that marriage is hard work, and it is: You have to make time for the things you love.”

On her talent:

“I think that people now see that I’m more than just a one-trick-pony sexy girl. I have a lot more to bring to the table. I’m trying to give people music that they can hopefully adopt as a soundtrack to their lives—songs that speak to a whole range of emotions.”

On performing:

“I think some people will die on the stage, and I’m not so sure I want to do that. Like, I want to have kids! I’m totally fine with saying that. I think some people are scared because they’re worried it’s going to ruin their career, but I want to live a full life.”

On her career-focused life right now:

“I’m going to have to train like an Olympic athlete to get through the tour. I’m going to have to really focus, but that’s okay. A lot has changed for me this year, and I’m ready for it. I think that when you’re single, you spend a lot of energy just being available for love and looking for the right person, and then when you have that void filled, it’s like, ‘Phew!’ Now I can take that extra energy I had and redirect it.”

On her career success:

“I feel like I’m at a point in my life right now where I could potentially stick around. I don’t feel like a diva, but I think diva is a great and powerful word in the sense of what Beyonce makes it. And maybe I can’t be Beyonce, but maybe I can be Cyndi Lauper. I mean be like her, not be her. That would just be weird.”

On not being a diva:

“It’s important to be relatable and normal. And I think that what helps with that, for me, is that I had the rug pulled out from underneath my feet so many times. It was like, ‘Listen up, b*tch, you’re not going to get served this on a silver platter—you’ve got to work for it!’ I don’t feel like I can act like an entitled b*tch yet! I still have so much to prove.”
