Following the massive success of “Roar,” pop singer Katy Perry is reportedly ready to release another song very soon. The song will drop on the same day as Britney Spears' big announcement, which may be about the first single from her new album. News about the possible pop showdown surfaced on Tuesday.
Perry announced her partnership with Pepsi today to release a new song from her new album, “Prism.” Her fans are currently unlocking details on Twitter with the hashtag #KATYNOW. The two songs up for consideration will be streaming in snippets on Pepsi.MTV.com on Saturday, August 24. Perry's fans will then vote on which song they want released. The winner will be announced the following day on August 25 and later released commercially on Tuesday, September 17.
September 17 is shaping up to be a big day in pop music because Britney Spears is also set to announce some news that day. A countdown timer appeared on the singer's website with the tagline “All Eyes on Me.” If Spears drops a single on that day from her new album, she could be in competition with Perry's new song. Britney's announcement could mean anything, though, including news about her live show residency in Las Vegas. No matter the case, the world will be abuzz on September 17 with Katy Perry and Britney Spears news.
Perry's “Prism” album will be released on October 22. Spears will hopefully release some new music very soon.
