Katy Perry took the stage on Wednesday night to the disbelief of millions of fans to accept the award on behalf of her fans. Winning Favorite Music Fan Following at the People's Choice Awards the fans of the star apparently voted more times for the star than the other artists represented. On Thursday she shared a big thank you with her fans and reminded everyone they were the winners.
“Meow out to all the KatyCats for their tireless PCA voting. You now hold the title for favorite music fan following! We rule the school,” tweeted Katy Perry from her official Twitter account. The entertainer also picked up several other awards thanks to her fans making the Wednesday night moment extremely productive.
While most of the categories were evenly matched, the Favorite Music Fan Following had some big entertainers. With Demi Lovato fans, Justin Bieber fans and even One Direction fans all pitted against Katy Perry fans, it is a little tough to believe Katy Perry won. It’s pretty obvious that this category had international influence and perhaps even a heavily orchestrated campaign.
Considering that over 475 million votes were counted, maybe the other fans were more focused on winning top categories instead of an award honoring their loyalty to a star.
