Katy Perry literally lit up the red carpet during the 27th Annual ASCAP Pop Music Awards in Hollywood last April 21st. The towering singer-songwriter paraded with her black sandals with Lucite heels that glowed in her every step. Defining a fun and colorful persona, those Jimmy Choo Zappa suede sandals were as quirky as Perry herself. The pricey over-the-top pair, which retails for almost 2,500 USD, seemingly grabbed more attention than her gray and pink Manish Arora Spring 2010 dress. Katy was all excited that she even twittered those glowing heels before the event.
“My shoes light up 2night :) I feel like a kid again w/ them LA gears!!But this time it's Jimmy Choo. Wonder if JC will make skating 1's nxt?”

Known for her shockingly original lyrics, Katy Perry became famous for her “Ur So Gay” song in 2007. A year later, she even got more attention with her “I Kissed A Girl” breakthrough single. This year, during the annual American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, she was given two awards for her two other songs - Hot N Cold and Waking Up In Vegas. Inside the grand ballroom of the Renaissance Hotel in Hollywood, her smile beamed more than her JC light-up footwear.
Katy Perry has been on the March 2010 cover of Nylon Magazine. This pop culture and fashion magazine described Perry as “the pop tart with a twist” who is witty enough to create “her scandals through lyrics, not tabloid covers.” The feisty singer also admitted to Nylon that she actually has been with a woman.
In the coming months, Katy Perry is going to surprise us with some more artistically outrageous songs (and fun funky shoes) for sure. She twittered about spending two weeks recording a new album in her Santa Barbara hometown. Her new labor of love is coming up this summer of 2010 under the Capitol Music Group label.
