Katy Perry had a regular day at the office on Friday and she didn't even bat an eye. The entertainer is getting ready to go on tour and while she finalizes her tour dates, gets her costumes set and even hangs out at the house it appears she her fan base is growing by extraordinary proportion. On Friday, Katy Perry hit 50 million followers on Twitter.
“Oh yeah AND we grew to 50 million Katycats! Eh, regular day at the office,” tweeted Katy Perry from her official Twitter account on Friday. While Katy might consider this a “regular day” perhaps a little perspective is needed.
While Katy Perry has 50 million follows on Twitter, her colleagues like Lady Gaga and Rihanna have far less. Lady Gaga has over 41 million Twitter followers and Rihanna has 33 million. Even Justin Bieber has barely over 49 million followers.
The idea of getting millions of followers for artists is important as it builds social media clout and offers a huge platform for their music and tours. It also helps them address rumors and gossip in case things get out of control.
Katy Perry seems to be top celebrity when it comes to Twitter followers. With 50 million she can definitely say what she wants on social media and make her fans happy in the process.
