Mega star Katy Perry spent her 29th birthday yesterday performing for students at Lakewood High School in Lakewood Colorado. Lakewood was the winner of the Good Morning America "Roar with Katy Perry" contest, beating out 1,000 other high schools in 44 states competing for the grand prize of having the pop star perform at their school.
Lakewood's video was shot by a student videographer with over 2,000 students and staff during their homecoming week, and was done in one take. The video shows school spirit and diversity with over 80 clubs participating and ends in huge pep rally on the football field. Ironically, their school mascot is a tiger.
Katy Perry, whose birthday was yesterday, October 25, said that even though she is 29, she still feels like a teen and this is reflected in the spirit of her music. Perry started the performance with the hit "Roar" and also performed singles "Walking on Air" and "Firework." Perry said she chose Lakewood as the winner because "It was thousands of kids coming together to 'Roar' and that's what this competition means to me." (ABCNews.go.com)
