Once upon a time, it was only grandmothers and old ladies who would crochet and knit. At least that is how we perceive things today. In reality, young girls were taught to knit and do all forms of needle crafts from an early age. In an article in the Belfast Telegraph, Katy Perry reveals that she loves to crochet. The Telegraph states that Perry says crocheting helps her fall asleep. The singer reveals that she has a secret love with yarn. The article quotes Perry, “I was at Liberty yesterday and they have this big crocheting aisle – everyone else that's cool was in the designer clothes area and I was just like 'ooh look at all these yarns, I love it'.”
So why the love with crochet? The star singer says it is relaxing and it helps her to fall asleep. So many people say the last thing they do before they go to bed is check their phones. It fills your head with too much stuff like twerking and celeb gossip that you cannot sleep well. Perry started crocheting and finds that she falls asleep faster when this is her final task of the evening.
Some of her favorite things to crochet are baby items—don’t get the wrong idea—there is not a little mini-Katy in the near future. She is currently crocheting a baby blanket for her niece.
