Katy Perry ate junk food and drank after divorce: Her diet and workout plan

"I was just eating Flamin' Hot Cheetos and drinking, and that's it," Perry told Marie Claire Dec. 9.

"There were two weeks of my life after I found out the truth of my marriage where I was like, 'OK. All right. I can't feel this. This is too intense right now.'"

Katy said one of the issues in her marriage was the subject of children: Brand wanted kids now, but Perry wasn't ready.

I'm definitely not there yet, and I can't plan that far in advance. When I decide to have a family, I'll just want to be Mom for a little bit. [Russell] really wanted me to have children, and I knew I wasn't ready. I think it was a way of control. If I have a kid, then I would have to sacrifice. I'd have to be at home more. I really wanted to, but I knew I wasn't ready for it."

Fortunately, all that drama is in the past, and Katy's back on her health regimen, which includes scarfing down handfuls of vitamins, doing circuit-training and cardio workouts and following an organic diet.

Perry's diet typically consists of lean proteins like grilled chicken, as well as grilled vegetables and fresh-pressed juices.

Perry recently made headlines after tweeting a photo of a large Ziplock bag containing what appeared to be hundreds of vitamin pills, which she says she takes daily.

Katy, 29, insists the vitamin therapy has dramatically improved her energy levels, her appearance, and her overall health.

"I went to see a Chinese medicine doctor who curated vitamins and supplements for my blood," she said. "When I first did it, I felt like my mind was firing off like I was 17. It really changed my life. It made my mind so fast, my body feels great — and my skin!"

Perry, a longtime fitness fanatic, has gotten even more disciplined about her diet and workout regimen as she gets older. The 5-foot-8 Katy, who once weighed 145 pounds, now weighs about 130 pounds.

"[Taking control of her health is] where you really walk through the door of growing up," she said. "It's like you realize what was cool for me at 26 is just not cool for me anymore."

Now happily dating singer John Mayer, Katy is grateful for the lessons she has learned from her divorce and is ready to move forward with her trademark optimism.

"I've learned so many incredibly valuable lessons," she said. "Sometimes I feel I'm the positive girl among my pop peers, but I'm OK with that. I'm happy I'm the light."
