It is news that is sure to delight her millions of fans, Katy Perry has reclaimed her throne as queen of the Billboard Top 100. According to a Jan 29 story by Perez Hilton, the superstar songstress’ "Dark Horse" skyrocketed to dominate the Billboard charts. While her face is plastered across every form of media, many people are not aware that this is her ninth chart topping single in her short career.

“Dark Horse” is the second single from her hit album “Prism”, and it is a collaboration with the highly talented Juicy J. Shockingly, Katy Perry did not expect her latest single to have this much success. In a recent interview, the star admitted that this is one of her most “unexpected” hits.

This No. 1 is the most unexpected one I've ever had. Dark Horse has been a dark horse of a song, since August when the KatyCats voted to release it early on iTunes, before 'PRISM' even came out. I'm so thrilled and grateful to have these moments."

“Dark Horse” is rapidly spreading through pop culture. In fact, Pitbull has already produced a remix of her chart topping hit.

How do you think Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse” compares to her other recent hits? Were you surprised that the song rose as quickly as it did?
